Legendary rugby union player Dwayne Peel dropped into Ellesmere College to give pupils a training session under his expert eye. The most capped scrum-half for Wales and current Sale Sharks star enthused pupils with some innovative training sessions and expert advice. Dwayne made his professional club debut for Llanelli RFC before moving to the Llanelli Scarlets at its creation in 2003. He made his international debut for Wales in 2001 against Japan and has successfully achieved 76 caps for his country Alex Murphy, Director of Rugby said; "The whole ethos of the sports academies is to inspire and develop elite athletes. Dwayne's visit and training session was very worthwhile for the boys who participated. It was very motivational and through emphasising the need for team play, he will certainly have had a good effect on all those involved" Ellesmere will be hosting a sports Academy Day on Saturday 26th January for anyone interested in meeting the coaches, understanding the sports academy philosophy and finding out about their sports scholarships. |
